Growing Protest Against Trump

By Janice S. Ellis, PhD,  Kansas City, MO —

Growing protest against Trump, what does it mean? Are caring citizens finally waking up, or are the demonstrations orchestrated by the anti-Trump establishment?

Whatever the reasons or whomever is behind them, the protests signal that there is growing concern that Donald Trump has a great chance of being the Republican nominee for President of the United States. That also means that there is a good chance he could become the 45th President of the United States.

Growing protest against Trump at least is an expression of disapproval and growing unpopularity of the provocative statements and scanty policies that have been, and are defining the Trump candidacy. Trumps has shown no reluctance in insulting and deriding entire groups of people. It has not been confined to illegal immigrants, the target he used to kick off his campaign. At that time he declared that they were “rapists and murderers.”

Building a wall on the Mexico-U.S. border to keep them out of America has been a constant refrain. Deporting illegal immigrants currently living here remains his top priority. In addition to Hispanics participating in the protests, those who are here and eligible to vote are registering in record numbers to vote in the November election.

Don’t forget his statements against Muslims, his refusal to disavow the Ku Klux Klan, his insults against women and other statements and actions not befitting of someone who wants to represent America.

Growing Protest Against Trump

Does the growing protest against Trump include more than Hispanics? Are there caring citizen who are finally realizing the possible national and global consequences of a Trump presidency?

Could it be that sensible, logical, intelligent and thinking American voters are finally saying, “What do Trump statements and pronouncements really mean? Where are the details? What do they mean for the country at home and on the world stage?”

More importantly, what will it say about America if a candidate like Trump, who make false and contradictory statements within the same day, sometime within the same hour; who consistently shows a lack of understanding of how the three branches of government supposed to work; who shows a lack of knowledge of history or foreign policy. How can he possibly be the leader of the free world?

Could the growing protest against Trump possibly mean that caring American voters are finally listening and paying attention to what a Trump presidency might mean?
