With all of the poverty, abusive power, oppression, rampant racial hatred and discrimination in the United States and across the world, where are the leaders like Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Mandela, King? Where are the men and women, today, who are willing to fight the gallant fight to continue to improve the plight of mankind?
Where are the leaders like Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Mandela, King? That is a question worth asking as we note the 51st anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King, Jr.
With the resurgence of racial hatred and the growing deterioration of race relations in this country, it seems that all the progress made by King and the Civil Rights Movement is now on a slippery slope. Perhaps that bane of evil, racial hatred, has really never been that far away—just waiting for the right conditions to raise its ugly head.

Those conditions seem to be spreading in recent years, creating a dangerous and combustible atmosphere. How else can the recent burning of the three historic black churches in Louisiana by a 21-year-old white supremacist be explained? Church burnings in 2019. That was common in 1940s, 1950s, and the 1960s during the height of the Civil Rights Movement.
Why are some officers, in police departments all across the country, comfortable using excessive force against blacks, many of who are unarmed or not guilty of committing any crime? Why are the urban areas, which are predominantly black, continually plagued by sub-standard housing, poor schools, high unemployment, high crime, and persistent higher rates of poverty?
But these conditions are not just in the United States. They exist in many parts of the world, especially in underdeveloped countries and those ruled by dictators and tyrants. The work that Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa and Nelson Mandela spent their lives doing is still sorely needed.
Where are the leaders like Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Mandela, King? We need unflappable leaders who are willing to resume such humanitarian work. What a shame it will be to allow their work and the progress, to improve the plight of their fellow citizens, be undone. But, that seems to be the path we are on.
We need ongoing strong positive voices to fight against, deter, and drown out the growing racial hatred, the abuse, brutality, and oppressive acts that go along with it.

I believe we need more leaders like them. They don’t have any thirst and interest for power but rather they are for humanity. I hope that each nation finds a leader like them.
I personally hope that all of us don’t need to wait for each other to hope for 1 or a few people who will become ideal leaders. I hope there is an online community, which is really serious about becoming a unifier in overcoming all injustices in this world. Is it possible… 🙂

They are the best leaders and influencers the world had. I wish a lot more leaders like them rule and use their power in good.
I think this is what we really need now. Even though our world seems to get worse through time, I still hope that a lot of leaders arise and help us to make things right.
I do not know much about these people got to be honest here. However, all of these guys are or could be an inspiration. There is no definite qualifications to be a leader. It all boils down to sticking to what you believe in. These people did just that.
It’s true, I hate the idea that we are going backwards as a society especially in light of all the racial prejudice. The only reassuring thing I can think of are all the great Black biopics that have come out recently like BlacKkKlansman, 12 Years a Slave and Selma. As long as we don’t let the instances of discrimination like the church burnings and police brutality affect our ability to speak out then there will always be a cause for hope. I think even you writing this article was very courageous and will have a strong influence in bringing perseverance towards the Black community.
All the above mentioned leaders have been excellent in their fight for humanity. We can only pray to get more exceptional leaders in the future.
I wish there was a cure for racism and discrimitation, it’s unbelievable that human can make progress in many areas but in other areas the mind and thoughts can be so poor.
Okay i think that the great leaders like the ones you’ve mentioned exists. The problem is that they are not the ones in power and until they get in power we might still suffer for sometime.
It starts form how we bring our children. The background is the one which depletes those skills portrayed by the said leaders.
These were leaders that devoted their whole life to serve humanity. Its such a rare virtue to find in the present day’s leaders, whose their main concern is how to enrich themselves.
You just mentioned some very treasured people that stood out in all ramification. I’m still hoping and having great hopes that very soon that very soon exemplary people like your aforementioned will be raise.
Sometimes I think like these leaders that you have mentioned like Mandela, Mother Teresa and the like were sent by God for their generation. Its so hard, to find their likes in this generation.

It can start with you..You can make that change..we shouldn’t wait for another Mandela before we do our part..I like your write up but my question is “What have you done to stop this murders, racism and the rest..I’m not trying to criticize you but I’m just saying that the change we need starts from us..Do your own part..others will be inspired to join in the struggle.. Writing articles and talking won’t ward off the problems Black’s are facing in the usa
I ask same questions with all the happening in our society and unfortunately those in authority do not even care. It very appalling to say the least.
