Electing The Best Leaders
September 22, 2010Transforming Our Two Party Process

Billboards of President Obama are disrespectful and downright unpatriotic. It would be simple to mention that the constant show of disrespect for President Barack Obama is the best example that racism in this nation is alive and well. Without a doubt, a claim might be made that the perpetrators and those that condone such acts are really racists.
What else can we reason regarding the recent billboard in western Colorado that depicts President Barack Obama, in living colour, as a terrorist, a gangster, a gay man, as well as a Mexican bandit? This, in the aftermath of the billboard where the Tea Party shows him as a socialist along with Adolf Hitler and Karl Marx, surely begs the question. Even though the Colorado billboard was taken down, it had been seen by not only our country but the world at large before that occurred.
Will we ever forget the representative from South Carolina who felt comfortable calling President Obama a liar, out loud in a full house of Congress, for most of the nation and world to hear? A historic display of disrespect, not just for the irreverent congressman, but even worse the Office of President as well as the Halls of Congress.
All the actions are unprecedented. Did you see such displays throughout the presidency of Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton, or George W. Bush? Did you see billboards depicting their factual transgressions: Richard Nixon as a bandit complicit in the preparation of the Watergate break in, Bill Clinton being in a compromising position with a different girl, or George Bush dancing on a bar in a drunken stupor?
Has President Barack Obama been a gangster, terrorist, a Mexican bandit? Oh, along with a homosexual gangster, terrorist, and bandit at that? These billboards of President Obama are an outrage.
Every actual and respectful American should be shouting: ENOUGH, ENOUGH, ENOUGH. Not to do so reflects poorly on all folks. I shutter to think what a few of our international neighbors must be thinking.
Such outright demagoguery and derogatory actions are a blatant display of disrespect for the office of the President of the United States of America. It is downright un-American. It reflects more negatively on the perpetrators and those that condone it than it does on President Barack Obama.
Billboards of President Obama
Sadly, there are people who just cannot accept the reality that America has a black man as president. They are either reluctant or unable of extending President Barack Obama the benefit of the doubt that he is an experienced and capable leader. Just as great, even a lot better than many of the presidents that have gone before him.
History is going to be the best judge of President Barack Obama. But history will also judge our actions or the lack thereof at the same time.
