The obsession with repealing and replacing Obamacare, the Affordable Healthcare Act, borders on a form of selective psychosis. The real question: What is the underlying cause of this seven-year+ effort to undo what has been a means to provide millions of Americans health care coverage? The continuous failed attempts are beginning to appear psychotic.
Why the obsession with repealing and replacing Obamacare when the proposed replacements will make Americans worse off? Is that sane or rational? What kind of sense does it make? Why are Republicans hell bent on repealing Obamacare?
Is it racial hatred—they just find it unacceptable that President Barack Obama, black and a Democrat, managed to pass legislation to expand health care coverage when his predecessors were unable to?
Is it the strong disdain and distaste for the most vulnerable among us—poor whites and minorities—that policymakers and their wealthy supporters feel are undeserving of good health care services? How can having access to affordable health care not be a part of those inalienable rights of “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness,” which are extended to all American citizens.

Is it the love of money, the power elite, who will tolerate and find acceptable any and all manner of inhumanity in order to preserve their wealth? It seems they find it totally acceptable to take away needed health care from some, and totally deny affordable and accessible health care to others—those who most need it, the poor the elderly, children—if they think it is going to cost them more tax dollars.
The obsession with repealing and replacing Obamacare defies logic, is inhumane, and flies in the face of how a governing body arrives at good and reasonable public policy.
Obamacare, the Affordable Healthcare Act, is not perfect. But instead of spending seven years, and counting, trying to undo it, why haven’t there been efforts to improve it, fix it? Talking about throwing out the baby with the bathwater….what blind and misguided rage. It borders on psychosis.
The obsession with repealing and replacing Obamacare has occupied President Donald Trump, a Republican, before and since he took office, and both house of this Republican Congress. What defies common sense even more are the proposals to replace Obamacare, which are draconian and worse. Why penalize and put at risk those Americans who currently have healthcare under the Affordable Healthcare Act, Obamacare? Why not fix and improve Obamacare so more Americans can receive needed health care services? That would be good public policy.

Every rational, caring Americans must be asking, “Why?” The obsession with repealing and replacing Obamacare can only confirm the hatred and disdain associated with race and poverty, and the misguided notion that government is supposed to provide and protect the well-being of the rich, not the majority of its citizenry. “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” applies to all citizens.
The cause for the obsession with repealing and replacing Obamacare cannot be mistaken.

Psychosis? I don’t think so. It is called a redistribution of wealth under the political guise of healthcare reform. When Obama was the President and the Democrats had control of Congress, it was mere political theatre for the Republican loyal opposition to send up meaningless legislation that they knew had no chance of being passed. These public displays gave them the air of trying to undo Obamacare, which they had labeled as socialized medicine. Such labeling plays well with the Republican base. Obamacare covers a lot of people who otherwise could not get insurance coverage. And now the Republicans are trying to take away something they claim is failing and is a failure. But notwithstanding their efforts to withhold the needed subsidies in an attempt to strangle insurance companies and cause them to withdraw from various markets, Obamacare is now more popular than ever. There are flaws with it but they are reparable. But I believe the real reason for the Republican Establishment’s obsessive efforts to destroy Obamacare is because they want to give the rich people a tax cut. And to pay for the tax cut, they want to destroy Obamacare and replace it with a watered down version of a healthcare bill that they know is no good. They will send block grants to the states along with the problem of not having enough money to cover an ever-expanding healthcare population. The Republicans controlling the Senate and the House have been bought and paid for by super PAC’s financed by billionaires who want a return on their investment in electing these people to their lofty positions. I’m referring to McConnell and Ryan. Susan Collins and small few others with integrity are left to defend what is right and just. But the Republican leadership is far too corrupt to care about poor people or even their own constituents. They have made a Faustian bargain with the likes of the Koch brothers and Sheldon Adelman and now unless they pay the pipers they don’t get to dance anymore.
